On July 8, 2025, Collaboration Education,® a nonprofit serving economically disadvantaged K-12 students, hosted a Planting and Partying with a Purpose” day for students who reside at the Edna Moran Shelter. Under sunny skies, children and volunteers planted vegetable and flower gardens, learning how to care for them while receiving personal gardening kits with gloves, tools, a watering can, and a clipboard. Students will tend and track plant growth over the summer, and the day concluded with an ice cream sundae party celebrating their end-of-year achievements.
